Join the Session

Do you enjoy Traditional Irish Music Sessions? Would you like to join in and belt out a few tunes?  If so you have come to the right place.

Learn to play Dance Tunes and Airs on Fiddle, Tin Whistle or Tenor Banjo.

You could be :- an absolute beginner, a classical player looking to try something different, or even an old hand looking for new tunes and skills. Perhaps you took lessons once upon a time and fancy dusting off your instrument. Whatever your age or current level you can benefit from attending a regular class.

Traditional Irish Music Lessons for groups and individuals have been running since 2010. Classes are held regularly in Killorglin.  Tuition is also available Online.

Individual Lessons

Fiddle | Banjo | Tin Whistle Foundation to Advanced

Lessons are  tailored to each student with goals such as developing specific musical skills (ear, rhythm), improving technique, preparing for competition or exams, increasing repertoire, general stagecraft, and skills needed for playing for dancers or in ensembles.

Group Lessons

Foundation to Intermediate

Lessons follow a step by step curriculum to ensure that everyone progresses.

Class sizes are kept small. Instruments and levels are matched up as far as possible.

There are regular events organised so that students get the opportunity to use what they have learned.  Past events have included entry in Busking and Group Music competitions, Open Sessions and Concerts.

Exams

Prepare for Junior or Leaving Cert Practical

You can also prepare for any of the Exams in traditional music offered by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann, London College of Music and the Leinster School of Music.

Competitions

If you are interested in competing we can include competition repertoire in your lesson plan.

Group competitions can be particularly enjoyable and provide a great learning experience.

Sessions and Festivals

Once you have built up a repertoire of tunes you can join the informal sessions which are arranged regularly for students.

You can also busk at local festivals, join in open sessions or play at local events.
